Well I'm really proud to say that we completed our first event to raise money for the paediatric intensive care unit where Jake was treated. We timed it to coincide with the anniversary of the date he came home from hospital, and we walked the 18 miles or so from the hospital back to our home. There was a small group of close friends and family, and half way we were joined by Jake and his football team.
Jake presented the cheque to the hospital on Sunday for £2547.
I'm pleased to say they are taking my wishes into account and are looking at purchasing some reclining chairs for the parents room. I suggested that after we spent a horrendous night in there after Jake's surgery - there were no beds available and so we spent the night on a tiny plastic chair. I know I wouldnt have slept anyway but would have been lovely to be able to sit comfortably and relax a bit.
