Surviving The AVM Brought me What?

My AVM bleed, and craniotomy to remove it came when
I was in my early fifties. At the time I did not believe that
I would survive it, but thanks to the doctors, and I think, thanks mostly to
God… I recovered and got my life back.

Fifteen years later, I ask myself what I have experienced
that I almost did not live to see. I lived to give away my daughter
at her wedding about five years later. I lived also to meet my
new grandson at his birth a couple years after that. When
we got to the hospital there was my son-in-law conked out
on the couch like he had done all the work, and there
was my daughter wide awake and beaming with pride,
showing us our new grand-son. After that in a couple more
years came a fine grand-daughter. I didn’t know there was so
much to stay around to see.

So…try to stay around too. You don’t know what good things you will
experience. I have heard from many who survived after
being closer to death than I was.

Thanks! sometimes I look at what life has dealt me with the avm rupture and the subsequent deficits I some times think now what?
I guess the answer is live and appreciate every moment to the best of our ability…

Yes, Mike5. That sounds good to me.
You will do fine.

Well said, love with tender touch, speak with sweet tone and appreciate every thing and everyone that you encounter,

Isn’t it wonderful to be a survivor? Better than being six feet under
I am sure. Especially when it was unexpected.

I also was very close to death when my AVM ruptured when I was 60 years old. I passed out and had brain surgery/stroke, and didn’t wake up for about 7 weeks. God was with me every step of the way. I completely recovered and have a very good life; thank the Lord.

Thank You John_P! Your posts always are a joy to read and certainly set an example for me to follow. I was 48 when mine ruptured, just rolled over 49, wasn’t sure I was going to see that! Take Care.

To JD12, and Maria7,

Thank you both! You both must be strong people to survive
what you did, and I thank the Lord for both of you.
