AVM and night sweats

Hi All bit of a strange one for you AVM people… I am one year in with my AVM and had the knife about 4 months ago. over the last week or so, I have been waking up in bed wet through with sweat (sorry i know it sounds horrible) I feel fine and once up and showered no problem. I sleep with a leg out of bed under a quilt, its winter here so it is cold at night…

Anyone heard of this and being tied into a AVM.

Matty

Hey Matty,

That is an odd one, hopefully others will chime in who have had GK and experience of this.

Do you have a specialist nurse assigned for you? Maybe well worth giving them a call just to give you some reassurance too, I contact mine quite a bit.

Hope you have some relief soon, cant be nice waking up in sweats and then getting out into the cold :persevere:

Best wishes,

Corrine

Hi Matty.

Strange you say that as there are some nights I get really hot and sweaty also- my partner says I feel like a radiator even if it’s a freezing cold night but I have never linked it to my AVM … maybe it’s just a coincidence but let me know what your doctor says!

Hi Matty,
I, too, have experienced drastic temperature changes. I am newly diagnosed (3 weeks ago) but haven’t found out if it’s related to the AVM yet. Let me know if you hear anything from your doctors!

I, too, have the same symptoms…cool when I get into bed, then wake up very warm. It’s disruptive to good quality sleep, I have noticed this since the gamma knife surgery; not before. Thanks

My dural av fistula was operated on 12 days ago. Since then, I wake up every 2 to 3 hours with a headache, throughout the night. I’ve noticed that each time I wake up, my bed sheet is usually soaked through with sweat. It’s pretty yucky, coming back from the bathroom and crawling into a cold, wet bed. My guess is that it’s one of the many surprises that comes with this condition. I hope this apparent symptom goes away for all of us going through it.

Ha . YEH I wasn’t sure about putting that but you broke the ice… Climbing tiered into a cold wet bed… But the weird thing is, I get in and i am soon asleep in the wet bed. lol.

My son is five years past rupture and brain surgery repair. He is still very sensitive to being too hot and we keep our house very cool at night. We purchased a cooling pillow which helped him a lot. He doesn’t complain any more of night sweats, but there was a period when he did sweat at night. It seems to have improved as time has passed.

I wake up seriously sweating. I mean like clothes sticking to me and hair wet kind of sweating. I think it may be hormonal, but I have been doing it for years. So who knows?

Hi Matty, after my gamma knife in jan 2017 I use to sweat at night to really bad. I never linked it to my avm till I have read other people suffering with same symptom. I was unfortunate and a another bleed June 2017 to which after that I never suffered the night sweats again. I reckon it could be linked to the GK. I use to think it was because I moisturise and it was making me sweat out, how wrong was I…
