What to expect after surgery

I am having an ETV or shunt in my 3rd ventricle this month. My AVM is inoperable and causing hydrocephalus.

I am too aware that everyone's' recovery is different, but can anyone share with me their issues AFTER the surgery? How much help will I need, I want to be as prepared as I can.

I had a shunt put in. Initially they put a clamp on my defective artery. The doctor put the shunt in after he realized there was fluid build-up on my brain. The surgery to put in the shunt set me back more than the original surgery. However, I am now over one year post-shunt surgery and I am doing well, except that I have to be on anti-seizure medication the rest of my life! But that's better than the alternative!
