Has anyone encountered this ward-of-the-state thing or had the fear presented to him or her? If so, how did you handle it?

Hi Louisa - sure thing. Kind of a long story: initially (years ago), there was a huge focus on “ward of the state” “option”, which I wasn’t really knowing what that meant, when my guardianship was switched when I was in a coma; I’m guessing in case of death- not to be morbid. We went to court to switch it back once I was out of the coma and physical rehab. hospital.
Now, the issue has resurfaced - not for myself. I am totally ignorant on the subject; I’ll google it, but if anyone has encountered this, any education on the matter is appreciated.
