Started walking today!

Hi all, it’s been a few weeks since I had my craniotomy with dr Neil Martin at UCLA. He was able to get 100% of the avm so I am now avm free!!! Still dealing with the deficits of surgery which for me were losing my balance and coordination on my left side. Also dealing itch some vision issues. My incision is healing up beautifully and I’m doing great in rehab here at UCLA. I’m so glad I came here. Will update more later!

Congratulation on a 100% free AVM. Also no what its like to have those deficits of losing some balance and coordination. My Deficits were about the same as yours just on the right side. My vision issues on my right eye and balance on my right foot. To this day its a lot better balance is minor issues when running right foot is flat. My eye sight have bad right peripheral vision in both eyes and have a contact lens in only my right eye. Funny having 20/20 in one eye and not so good in the other. Best of luck in rehab.

Congrats on being AVM free! I wish you continued success at rehab, and on the road to recovery. You can do it!

Hi Abbey and I've been thinking about you so I'm glad you posted here to let us know how you are doing. So happy that Dr. Martin got all of the AVM and you are doing well since your surgery. Recovery is often a lengthy process, so remember to always be kind and patient with yourself. Keep up the good work in rehab. All the best!!

Congrats Abbey. I can feel your excitement as I see it in my daughter Alethea. She had the same issues as you with the exception that she had 2 brain surgeries. One month after her 2nd surgery she is already dancing. Her left arm is still weak but she is coming along.

I am glad to hear that everything is going well for you. Best of luck and Blessings.

GOD is GOOD! I read your story back in Feb when I was diagnosed with my AVM. So glad to read your update. Stay Strong! Mel
