Posterior fossa avm

Hi, I have received a letter from my neurologist today just giving an overview of our meeting last week when I learnt I had a large avm in my cerebellum. On the letter it states I have a posterior fossa avm can anyone advise what this is or means?
Thanks
caroline

The posterior fossa is a small space in the skull, found near the brainstem and cerebellum. The cerebellum is the part of the brain responsible for movement, balance, and coordination.

This search can help you connect with others who have similar avms: http://www.avmsurvivors.org/main/search/search?q=posterior+fossa

Have you told anyone about the stiff neck and the pressure feelings yet? Please report that to your neuro without delay, Caroline.

Hi dancermom, thanks for the reply, I am keeping an eye on my symptoms with stiff neck/head pressure and will mention it next week when I meet the neurosurgeons. If it gets worse I will go to a+e or er as you probably know it.

Very good, Caroline. And whether they want to treat with surgery, embo, gamma, or nothing, just know we have lots of people here who have been there, done that, and are doing well. :)

dancermom's links are very useful! also, remember that you can always ask your AVM doctor for more information about your condition. He should help you understand it as it is part of his responsibility.

Do talk to them about your symptoms, let them determine which are related to the AVM, I recently discovered that aches and pains that I assumed were allergies or "sleeping in a bad position" are very much related to the AVM. I am a few months ahead of you in a very similar scenerio. If I can help in any way please let me know... I am accepting it much better than I did in August.
