Negative doctors

Hi Mary-lee. My husband has angioectasia’s in his small bowel that bleed and cause anemia. These were treated by Dr mark appleyard who is the chief gastroenterologist at the royal brisbane. He may be of some help to you.

We are getting no where slowly. We spoke to our local political member after yet another hospital has refused to see my husband based on where we live. They can only recommend we go back to the GC hospital. That makes a lot of sense, get a second opinion from the doctor who gave you the first one. It is currently with the health minister but we aren’t expecting anything positive. We did manage to get a copy of the full report and things were much worse than we were led to believe, so that was a bummer. We will keep, trying until there is nothing left to try.

God bless and hang In there

HI Jules thanks so much, I see the surgeon in 50 minutes ,I will mention Dr Appleyard to him, does he perform lazer??don't let them do a hemicolectomy on him. i have had that and my specialist here says why didn't they lazer them!!so im not to sure of the reason either, but there is a professor in Brisbane Who this guy I see soon that, (he said he can refer me to and he is a professor... who lazers them. I will get his name for you in case you need it for some reason....yes I can understand just how you feel,it is so frustrating like I said before you poor things my heart goes out to you but fight sweetie ,fight hard, and it makes it i worse, if you over 55 they treat you as brainless and on the way out !! it is sooo frustrating. take care and god bless
what is your husbands name I will put him on our churches prayer list

Thanks marylee-Jane. Yes dr appleyard does laser them. He is very arrogant but good at what he does. My husband name is Lourens (pronounced Low - rens. We will appreciate your prayer and you will be in ours also. Keep me up to date with your happenings. My husband is over 50 and therefore ‘not viable’ with qld health. Sadly ,if he was in jail he would get everything he needs. System gone wrong me thinks. But we believe All things work for good, so we will keep, our eyes looking for the good in all of this.

Keep trying. I went to a doctor close to home when I had my first avm and he said that he could do nothing. By the time I got sorted it was quite a bit later. Keep asking. Always question until you get a satisfactory answer. Try to get a referral to a good neuro as many of them do work in the public system as well. Try PA they have some great doctors there. My plastic surgeon who did my reconstruction for breast cancer is there and he also works privately. What I am saying is don't discount the private guys as some of them do work in the public system.

hi Jules yes it is a weird world we live in sometimes, so I have to murder someone so I can get to jail so i can live a better life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!its simply crazy.
todays visit with my well informed surgeon is a colonoscopy and endoscopy then pill endoscopy and I think I will go with the professor whoever he is for the lazer

I don't do well with bad bedside mannered doctors ,.with the pill endoscopy, I have to deal with the rudest doc. I have ever met, as he is the only one in bundy who does the pill cam.
making matters worse!!he doesnnt think to much of me either, it should be a most interesting consult

Thanks for Lowrens name, I like to give the name, of th eperson we are praying for. Yes Jules it is a sad day, if we forget that all things work for good. the rest we both know....although sometimes its hard top stay focused on the good and positive things. One thing JUles if i don't get the things i want done with this recommended professor i will resort to your man,....at leasti know another dr who does lazer

tonite im all doctored out I have had enough for today even though this surgeon is so good looking it isn't funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!his wife is such a lovely person. He is a very gentle man

i am tired the myleodysplastic syndrome is making my lungs hurt not getting enough oxygen to low HB and im tired an early, night with my book is the ticket lets know how you go, and i will keep you up to scratch with my comings and goings..take care...hello to Lowrens

Hi Lesley. We have had a hectic little while. We ended up going to our local member and having him send our concerns to the health minister. It seems to have done the trick. We have appointments at RBH and the PA with neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists and vascular. Maybe now we can get a little clearer picture and some answers to questions rolling around in my stressed little head. This site has been a god send for info and direction

Great news! You just have to be a pushy so and so like me. I am sorry to say but that seems to be the only way to get the best, not only in medical stuff but everything. I think some people run for cover when I appear.
All the best
Lesley

Hi Jules, my son Chris had an AVM in his brain 4 years ago here in Townsville to be treated nearly 6 months later by Prof Robert Smee in Sydney. He is now 26 and he still not on any medication but does have short term memory and eye sight problems due to the severity of the bleed also suffered a stroke nearly year later leaving weakness on his right side. I could recommend Prof Smee as he was a very compassionate man for Chris and myself as his mum and full time carer. I wish you and your husband all the very best as it is a road ahead to have to push thru the red tape to get the right professional help.
