My Follow Up with the Neurosurgeon

So after being turned down by the Radio Surgeon, due to how microscopic my AVM is (not visible on MRI), I went for my follow up appointment with the Neurosurgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

The Surgeon reviewed my MRI and thought maybe I don't need to do anything at all as it is not visible anymore. I was feeling ecstatic at first but this still did not explain why I am getting really bad headaches, dizziness and vertigo even. Sometimes I get this ringing sound in my left ear (which I always thought was normal).

He then ordered another CT Scan and referred me to an ENT Specialist to rule out ENT related symptoms for my vertigo and ringing in my ears and also scheduled another 4VA Angiogram next February (2016) just to be sure that the AVM is gone.

So here I am, constantly in pain with massive headaches (paracetamol is my new candy) and constantly trying not to lose my balance. If there are anyone out there in Singapore who could point me to the direction of getting a second opinion, I would really appreciate it. I just want to know the thoughts of another professional before going for my next Angiogram.

Thank you so much in advance.

Thank you for reading this far. =D

I’m not in Singapore, but look for a neuro with extensive AVM experience (hundreds, if not thousands). Once you’ve narrowed it down, interview them to see which is the right fit. You can use ‘Questions for the Doctor’ under The AVM Info tab above.

If someone responds from Singapore, great. Regardless, you should be able to find one and get a second opinion. I wish you the best!
