More and more frustrated with doctors

Hi Mickeboy, sorry to hear you had such a rough experience, you are not alone. In my experience, being taken to the hospital in an ambulance really helps with the time it takes to get past the waiting room. I’ve had to explain to multiple doctors, nurses and paramedics what an AVM is. However, the emergency doctors are just concerned with making sure you are not dying at this moment. After that they aren’t really interested. The A&E/ER doctors did become very much more attentive once they realized that I was a patient of one of their top neurosurgeons. Suddenly they started explaining everything to me, why they did this and why they didn’t do this. And suddenly the senior doctor on call was available to speak to me. So I totally agree with previous comment on name dropping (if it’s the same hospital). But honestly, I am trying to avoid A&E/ER at all costs. If I think I can wait until my family doctors/GP open at 7am, I do. Its a much more pleasant and human experience.
