Hi, I’m doing a literature review on AVMs and I am learning that it is recommended that one get diagnostics done in order to rule out regrowth even if you’ve been “cured”. Can anyone comment on this topic? I am 16 yrs. post AVM clipping and only had one post op angiogram shortly after the surgery. I haven’t seen a neurologist since '93. I was told I was cured. Period. I’m kind of questioning this because of research I have read that dates in '02 but there’s even earlier research indicating the need for continued monitoring.
I’ve read about some growing back. If your insurance covers it, or if you have universal healthcare where you live, it’s worth the piece of mind, no? A painless MRI should be enough, I would think.
