Wow, just this minute received a reply and my email is being forwarded to Dr Rosen by his secretary.

It’s a start :+1::pray:

That’s great, like I said sometimes when it comes to waiting on a phone call from them you have to stay on top of them because they do get busy, but they are very nice people

Defo seems like very quick response sadly my own are not lol.

I had called my surgery this morning also , am afraid a very ill informed call taker said my records can not leave the country.

I pointed out they wouldnt be leaving the country physically just emailed to a specialist and after all they are my records which I should have access to. Wow the hurdles are crazy here

That’s ridiculous. Is there no loophole to get around that?
See if Dr.Rosen can request the records from your doctor himself. If not could you request your records be sent to you personally and you can just send them to Dr.Rosen via email? I took pictures of mine and emailed them to his assistant. I looked it up and it says in uk you can request your medical records if you pay for them, so I would just ask that they be sent to you, so you can get them to doctor Rosen yourself. What I looked up says you can request your records yourself and send them personally, but the doctors will refuse to send them out of country.

One thing I’ve learned from dealing with doctors and trying to get medical records is you really have to fight them, don’t let them run over you because they will if you let them.

Hi Dave,

I am here in the UK too. I have just made a request for my medical records as I will travel to France to my sister’s wedding soon and need them in case of emergency.

You need to contact your hospital, not the surgery, and by law they have to send everything within 30 days. It falls under data protection.

It was not an issue at all, they are quite used to it. Just had to email a form back with 2 proof of ID. You can request everything related to your AVM including MRI, CT scan, angiograms etc.

Hope that helps

Thank you both very much.

My Dr surgery wasn’t very helpful, but I will have to find a contact from my own hospital which is less than a mile away. But with all this cov going on I think may take a little more digging to find someone willing to point me in the direction I need.

In the meantime my email which was only the bare minimum of details has been send for a possible referral. It’s been sent to the Dr.

I dare say I will need the latest scan for him to assess and that’s gona be months off from past experience, my last scan, sorry my only scan was say 3 years ago which I fought tooth and nail for.

I thank you so much which ever way they decide, I really don’t see alot of kindness in the world now so thanks

Gona stay off for a few days in all honesty, but will be chasing these avenues.

I will obviously have to wait for a new scan etc which is going to take a little time so let’s see where this goes.

So many wonderful people on here, the forum really is invaluable. But a forum is only as good as the people who put their input in regardless of their own circumstances.

We all should offer what we can to each other, you just never know just one post can change it all for someone.

Pitica is in Londo too and she recommends the Royal Free Hospital as they have a specialist AVM Service. Is that where you go?

No I ain’t that lucky.

It’s my general hospital less than a mile away.

General plastic surgeon and a radiologist, they did have some others come up from down south that also operated on another well known facial AVM patient.

Recon they are just winging it up here, never offered other treatment or other specialists anywhere else :person_shrugging:

I think ask your GP for a referral elsewhere, like London. I do think we have the capabilities to do a lot of things in the UK without going to America, though I do think Facial AVMs might still be a USA thing.

I agree. If I am not getting any joy with my embolisation here, I am considering asking to the Royal free as Pitica suggested (she herself was seen in two hospitals if memory serves).

It’s flipping inconvenient as I live and work near Birmingham but needs must
