Avm?

i just found out in july of this year that i have avm , doctor says i cant work and so i have no insurence and no way of paying to have any medical treatment done does anyone know how i can get anything started???

Can I ask you why the doctor told you that you couldn’t work? I am in Canada so I can’t help you with the medical insurance question but my heart goes out to you in this situation. It’s just not right. I’m sure someone will be able to help you with this question because you are not alone.

I am not very familiar with the workings of the benefits system having only been living in the USA for 8 years and never had to use them ( not that I am eligible to claim because of my citizenship status) But if the doctors say you can not work for medical reasons does that not make you eligible to claim disability or assistance.

If your doctors have determned that you are unable to work because of your condition, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability. This is not an easy thing to get, trust me. If you elect to go the SS route, I would highly reccommend finding an attorney that specializes in this field before you start proceedings with SS. Many attorneys won’t even take the case until there is a denial of benefits, so you may have to shop around. It’s been a year and a half since I applied and I still don’t have my benefits. I have to go before a judge, which is about a 20 month wait. So you’ll need to be patient if you choose to go this route. In the meantime, contact your state’s social services department to see what they can do to help. You could also qualify for medicaid if you’re not working and have no income. Good luck!

thank u for the information… maybe it will help

Hi,

I found the same deal as Trish. Denied by social security, I called the Mass Rehab association. It’s a tough boat to be in. Keep pushing and ask a lot of questions.

Best of luck.
