LouisaC, we received that loud and clear, so far so good! We know there's a learning curve: this old girl's having a bit of a tough time herself. I think the fact that every page looks more or less the same confuses people. We'd like to change the aesthetics, and we will at some point (that "point" being when there's the budget to do it!)
The key for me was figuring out the "landing" page: the left hand column shows the various sections/topics in which discussion takes place. The right hand column has a running record of everything that's happening, in the order that it has happened. So it's all the same information, just organized a bit differently.
The other thing that took me a while to catch onto was that if I click on a member's avatar, a window opens with some information about them. THEN if I click on the second avatar, I get far more information about them. This system has "layers" of actions and information.
After those basics, it has just been a question of trying things out. Click away, it's not going to break! And very few things that you could do would be irrevocable. (There are a few one-way streets that the mods need to be careful on, but very few.)
All of that said, if you can see a way of making things easier to see or understand, I hope you'll let us know!
We're glad that you managed to post what you did.
