The Ironicy of the Healthcare System :P

Well this isn’t really a rant or feeling bad about something… it’s just really really ironic lol  like the title says. And I didn’t know what category to put it under other than emotional support. So here it goes-since I was in the 4th grade I have had constant ringing in my ears and I have always heard things louder than other people. For example, having the radio on in the car everyone would think the volume was at a normal level but for me it would seem like it was on the loudest possible setting. Not only would I hear things louder than other people I would hear a sound before they could even hear it (example-an ambulance driving by with it’s sirens on). Now with all that I’ve had tons of hearing tests and all they ever said was that I had perfect hearing and that I just had hypersensitive hearing and, that they didn’t know why I had the constant ringing in my ears. To say the least all of that got put on the backburner for about the past 9 years (while I’ve been dealing with other stuff), and it’s just become a part of life. Now with all of my AVM research and going through old posts on here I found something awesome… the word tinnitus lol you have no idea how nice it is to have a name for something I’ve been dealing with for so long. Once I found that I found hyperacusis! Lol yay! I finally have a name for it  — The ironic part of all of this is after about 10 years of dealing with this, seeing multiple specialists, audiologists, etc. It’s being on this website going through old posts, and watching a youtube vlog that finally gave me answers

I was in 4th grade also when the first symptoms of a problem appeared. I am now 67, so this was 58 years ago. One of the symptoms was hearing a loud swishing noise on the right side. It was called a bruit and it is the sound of the blood rushing in the AVM. No one knew that then. I had the AVMremoved in 1959, and after never heard it again.
