I am thinking self medication might be the way to go. I am tired of my neurologist and his ideas. Instead of 4 pills a day, maybe I should cut down to 3. Who knows?? It is after all a "license to practice medicine."

Can you tell it is not just my meds that have me down? Just after a year of being back to work I get laid off. New management has no clue. Old management would have kept me around in a different position. You do not get rid of your best people!!! Oh well. I guess this too shall pass.

I don't ever think it is a good idea to change your meds on your own. Bad things can happen and why take the risk. I am so sorry to hear about your job. Greg is right there are companies who will view you as a risk and feel no matter how valuable of an asset you are will try every way possible to get rid of you. Do you think they discriminated against you? Do you think it calls for legal action? This time will pass. You have already faced an epic battle, fought and survived. Now you just have to do it again.

Hey Mike, Although it is clearly illegal, some companies will view us avmers as a risk to employ due to future medical costs and increased premiums on the company. I have experienced this firsthand when my first job offer out of college was rescended after a pre-employment physical! My idiot FB who has NO CLUE about avms called it a 'seizure disorder' when I had been controlled with meds for over 10 years! Just another hurdle for us to handle. As far as self-medicating, I think everyone would advise against it. I know it can take a while to find that perfect cocktail of meds to control our seizures, but once you do, it's smooth sailing! One of my biggest fears growing up has been having a seizure in public and freaking everyone out, especially my coworkers! Because then you have to go into the whole story about the meds you take and the reasons for taking them, which I believe is none of their damn business! Hang in there brother, things will work out! -GK

I am so sorry… I don’t know why but what happen to you happens to a lot of good workers. Taking out part of your meds can make you maybe in trouble. I was tired of taking so many pills. I have to take 4 anti seizures daily. And what I did is starting to take just two a day but just because I have being with meds a lot of years already. But I don’t recommend that because it has negative consequences sometimes.
Take Care
