So it has been four years and four months since my Gamma Knife procedure, and my AVM was declared "obliterated" by my neurosurgeon in late 2010, yet I'm wondering what is triggering these strange headaches (headaches that I had never experienced in my life) that I have been experiencing lately. I'm beginning to wonder if it's normal to experience things such as this after an AVM has been treated.
The strangest headaches that I can remember are:
Mid May 2012 - While out of town and visiting a Church, my vision suddenly becomes cloudy (kind of like I've been staring at the sun for an extended amount of time). For a minute I was not able to see the people that had greeted me, but their silhouette; even though they were not that far from me. After I close my eyes for about sixteen minutes, my vision becomes better my I am left with an instant headache that lasts the entire day.
Sometime in December 2012: While at work, I feel a sharp pain in the area the AVM used to be and that pain had shot from that legion area to my shoulder leaving me with the need to sit still for a few minutes until the pain went away.
That's just what I remember. In hindsight, I should have kept a journal.I've also experienced migraine-type headaches for the past two weekends as well, but nothing like the aforementioned headaches. An appointment was made with a neurologist that I had found through my insurance provider (under the urging of two of my co-workers). It These pains could mean nothing, but I'm looking to find out what could be the cause to be on the safe side.

Comment by Leslye Wilson on February 5, 2013 at 1:39pm Thanks everyone for your responses. After the AVM was obliterated I've felt pretty good up until the time the weird headaches began. I had talked with my primary care doctor, and she had referred me to a Neurologist in Annapolis (quite a ways from Columbia, especially since I am unable to drive!). I found Neurologist not far from my home so I all have to do is make an appointment and send the information to my Doctor. It's been pretty much back and forth. Hopefully, I'll have something set soon. :-)

Hi Leslye,
So sorry you're experiencing headaches. :(
Since they're a new symptom, I would encourage you contact your neurologist right away and let him/her know of the changes.
Hopefully it will be nothing serious, but it's better to be safe!
Take care & hope you feel better.

Comment by marianne elizondo on January 30, 2013 at 8:50pm The cloudy vision you describe from May sounds like the aura I often get prior to a migraine.
