wooooot!
i just had my 1 year check up and i am shocked beyond belief! my surgeon believes that my avm is gone after just one year!!!!! (actually more like 11 months bc my mri was last month...) but he says he sees no sign of the avm and no sign of any live blood flow which would indicate a bleed, just swelling which is good becuase it means the radiation hit its target and is doing its job...
he doesnt want to do an angio now, he still wants to wait til next year because even if there is still a tiny part left he still wouldnt restrict me.
which brings me to the other half of why im so happy. i can do anything!!! i can play goalie in polo again!!! i can lift however much i want and i dont need to restrict my heartrate!! and i can scuba dive when i go to jamaica over spring break in 2 weeks (i really wanted to this summer in cancun but couldnt...)

i am just sooo ecstatic right now. i went to practice practically skipping!!

It's nice to hear a truly successful story post Gamma Knife on here! I was starting to think that it usually doesn't work.

Congrats! I'm so glad that you're (nearly) back to normal and resuming usual and unusual activities! : )

did you have the gamma knife? i am sch'd to have the gamma knife in april and am a little scared. i know there is no pain involved but i will have to undergo a 3rd angio the same day. the first angio there was too much blood. second angio was supposed to be angio and embo but dr's could not get to the avm. now i am sch'd to have gamma knife and hopefully this will take care of me. i'm happy for you though.grace
