Okay, so I was set to hear the results of my latest angiogram read by Dr. Fisher. To my knowledge he was present both times the AVMs were treated but was NOT my neurosurgeon. Dr. James Markirt was the one doin' the cuttin'. So my wife and I get a babysitter, drive to Birminham (about 4 1/2 hours north) and meet with the doctor. When Dr. Fisher came in, he looked at the computer, said "huh, that's interesting, hold just a sec" then walks out. When he came back, he explained that the file said I was doctor Markirt's patient and not his. Thank you doctor, I already knew that. Then he explained that "Dr. Markirt wasn't in today," which wouldn't seem like any big deal since I had been scheduled and confirmed with Dr. Fisher to go over the results. Dr. Fisher left the room and another doctor/nurse walked in. It was Tami, the lady that scheduled the consult. She started by apologizing profusely. I wasn't quite sure why. She explained that "this has never happened before" but the consult with Dr. Fisher was actually not necessary, it needed to be with Dr. Markirt all along and she had put it in the computer wrong. Ouch. I really am not mad about it. It was a good time of visiting with my wife and a little "vacation" of sorts for us. But, I still don't really know the results of the angiogram other than Dr. Fisher saying "there looks to be one small area of concern but Dr. Markirt will have to go over that with you. :-P Ah well, out of the deal, Leslie and I went to Cheesecake factory and completely stuffed ourselves with far more pasta and cheesecake than any two people should.

Moral of the story for all those who care, if you can zap a person's brain right but can't schedule a person's appointment, at least have the decency to call first.

Wow! I'm not sure how I would have acted if this happened to me, and I admire you for your positive attitude. Of course food from the Cheesecake Factory probably helped.

Hope you don't have to wait long for your next appointment.

Take care,

Debbie

ha ha! Glad you had a little car vacation with just the wifey! My husband and I like to go on road trips and he somehow seems immune to the torture that is my constant (and totally bad) singing along to the radio. :)

The worst part of the story is Dr. Fisher saying "I can't give you the consult, but I will leave you with the very vague and concerning statement of 'there looks to be one small area of concern'"!!!! ahhhh!!! Don't tell me anything if you can't tell me anything!

Hope your next trip to see Dr. Markirt has better results (and a less concerning parting statement!)

oh my gosh! You are so calm about this! I know there was nothing you could do but a 4 hour drive!? ahh! That is so wonderful that you looked at it as quality time with your wife. She is lucky to have you. The poor secretary. I would not have wanted to be her.
Hope you don't have to wait too long for your next appt.
