I have posted here a few times in the discussion area. But wanted to say that this place has given me a place to turn to know that I am not alone, that there are others out there that have AVMs, or are the caregivers to those with an AVM.
My wife has her next round of radiation on the 21st. Last time she had a 1.5 hour seizure, followed by a week of being paralyzed on her left side. She is very scared, and I suppose I am as well. We have gone through so much in so short a time. The doctors only give the procedure a 30-50% chance of working at all. They say they aren't even certain they will stop her bleeds. Her AVM is very large, and on her right side of her brain.
Pray for her please. Pray for us. We are praying for all of you.
Matt

Hi Matt. Give your wife a big hug from me. The folks at Emory do understand AVMs. I will continue to pray for her!

Hello Matt & Paula, as Ninbeth said, I just can't imagine how terrible this is for you both. My thoughts & prayers are always with you. Just try to Believe Matt, not easy, I really know that but just try to Believe!!

Hi Matt,
Sorry that Paula won't be able to be with you when she gets out of the hospital. Praying for progress in her recovery so she can return to you as soon as possible.
Take care,
Debbie
Comment by Matt Mihalek on January 25, 2012 at 7:09pm Paula is still in the hospital. Well, gotten moved to rehab. She ended up having a decompressive craniectomy, and now is having to learn to do a few things she did so well before. The edema is just massive. She was doing well, but suffered a seizure and since has regressed some. She is due to get out on the 27th, but if she needs the care it seems, I won't be able to do it at home. She will have to go to her aunt's house for a few months. That is pretty far away from us. Will only get to see her on weekends. I hate this illness, and truly wish none of you had it.
Dear Matt, so sorry to hear. I am keeping you both in my prayers. Even though it is tough, continue to trust! Eugene
