14th of june 2007..i woke in the morning started my day as usual and it wasnt until...i began walking into and knocking everything over to the left of me that i realised that i had lost my left field vision ...i went to the doctors was sent for a CT and diagnoised with an avm...i was told that my vision would never return as the avm had stolen the blood and oxygen supply from my occipital lobe resulting in killing the part of the brain that was resposible for left field vision ...well over the past 6-8 weeks i have been having a wierd feeling in the corner of my left eye ..like it is covered with something....well i went to see my neuro and he did some visual testing and my vision has improved sightly....he says i still have a dense visual feild defict but it has improved about 10%....doctors are saying unbelievable...but me..i dont think its unbelieveable...i always believed and i have never lost hope ...i believe my vision will return along with my mobility ...and for all those in the same boat...stay positive and always believe

Thanks for that. Yes never give up hope. When the Neurologist saw my husband for the first time after he was released from Rehab he said. Your going to be like this for the rest of your life. We just stared at him, blood draining from my head and about to pass out. Well two years later he is back to work full time, walking more quickly with his cane. He's proven them wrong. He's a miracle. He keeps trying . Keep believing and trusting God . I believe in prayer and vitamins. I started giving him vitamins especially B12 a few days after he came out of Rehab and have been praying hard ever since.

God bless you. My AVM hasn't been as bad as alot of the others that have written their story; as well as you. From all your experience it shows what a strong person you have become. Keep looking inside yourself for that strength of love, to bring you thru this trial. And don't ever give up your belief, that is your faith.

Alicia, congrats on ur recovery! Having my first embolization soon. How long and how many embolizations before ur craniotomy? My AVM sounds pretty similar to urs.....15cm. The plan is to embolize it in zones and eventually obliterate it with gamma or surgery. Any symptons during ur embolization period? Thanks GK:)

Sweet Alicia, Without you as a friend through all of this, the 'positive' energy I've received wouldn't be where it is right now...my motto has been 'panta pistevo' (something I learned as a young child from my greek mother). Although there are times I forget it's meaning, I'm reminded daily that we each need one another, in a way no others can understand. Every step you make in recovery, is a huge step in the eyes of us who know what you've been through and know the meaning of 'always believing'....always your friend, robin

Hooray Alicia!! You have once again given me hope that my vision will one day return. Among my deficits, that one is truly the worst! So glad you are continuing to improve. Inspirational as always!
