Hi I was wondering if anyone had experienced rapid heart rate after an operation!!
I've just had my first embolisation and when I came round from the general anaesthetic my heart rate went from 88bpm to 155 in seconds and it kept flitting from 120 again to 155. I was given a drug to try bring it down but it didnt work it took 2 attempts.

My AVM is rather large and in my right arm has anyone experienced this and are avms connected to the heart as my doc says no but to be honest I don't have much faith in them now and I'm not going to carry on with the treatment cause of it

Thank you Ben.
I'm petrified and the doc said he wants me back in, in six weeks. When I explained why I anxious he said the heart problem was not in his remit.

Hi Clair,
I have never had any problems with anaesthesia but, I have heard of others who've had. Some of my friends did tell me they had trouble with a rapid heart rate along with perspiration. It eventually went away as the medicine got out of their system. If I remember right, that takes a few days for it to be completely out of your system.

AVM's aren't directly connected to the heart. Your Dr. is right about that. However, they are effected by increases of our pulse and blood pressure. Basically - they are not connected but, they can be effected by it.

I hope this helps. :)

Ben
