Please share your AVM experience. (Discovery, symptoms, treatment, recovery): I was going in to help friends in their coffee shop. I had arrived at the shop early, so went over to our Shopping Mall. Whe I came outside into the bright sunlight. I thought to myself, " Blimmey this is bright". The further I walked towards the shop the worse my sight was getting. My Friend asked if I was ok, to which I replied " no not really' I can hardy see you".
He rang the doctor & they told me to go straight to out local hospital. I got dropped off at the door & my friend said, " call me when you want picking up". I just about made my way to the desk, & said, " please help me my eye sight is almost gone"
A doctor asked me my name, addrress, DOB, someone to contact etc etc. I could not answer him, my mind had gone blank. all I remember doing is saying "bag- phone". I then felt the whole world fold in around me & plunge into darkness, that was all I remember until I came around hours later.
I doctor who was sat beside me asked the usual questions, & told me he had thought I had a stroke. I rang my partener who at this time was in Sydney, & he flew straight back to me.
The following days in hospital they tried to tell me that I had a massive migraine!!. To which I relplied" total rot I AM a migraine sufferer & this was NO migraine". It was then that I had a MRI & MRA which should up this "thing" they call a AVM.
Following appointment with this one & that one, & having a Angiogram, preformed from a doctor from hell, & left bruised & a lump in my groin the size of an egg for weeks, I was feeling totally not altogether myself. I was then given a appointment to see a Neurosurgeon who told me that I was living with a time bomb, & nothing can me done beacuse of where it is. I then had a call weeks later from a Dr Smee in Sydney who told me he could help me with a 80/85% chance. I had Sterotactic Surgery done with the Linac Treatment. The "HALO" was the worst bit ,having that fitted. The staff & Dr Smee was just the most brilliant person anyone could possibly wish to meet.

Going on a short cruise with my family next week to Mexico, so hopefully the weather is better then......I just read ur most recent blog......YIKES!:( I am not that familar with LINAC, but I have read about necrotic scarring due to Gamma radiation?...I wonder if that may be what is going on? I'm surprised they did not perform ur MRI/MRA when u were last in the hospital? I wish the best results on the 12th and will have u in my prayers. Hang in there, this too shall pass:) -GK
