If your still looking around for Doctors, I see Dr. Wayne Yakes. He is a Necular Radiologist at Sweedish Medical Center in Denver. I have been treated by him for about 20 years. Saved my life, no doubt. Good luck.

I've heard that the results from a crainotomy are often times simular between the young and the wise. But also that crainiotomy is the best way to go rather than gamma knife because radiations long term effects. And that embolization just gets…

Be careful. try to find someone who has an avm similar to yours and who's further along on thier own path. i've found two who are really simular. one through Dr. Spetzler who had performed extensive gamma knife surgery on him several years…

I was just wondering because several of my doctors think that i might. (Traci Frecht and William Cauldwell of U of Utah hospital) My father has a rare soft tissue disease called Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. It can be somewhat hereditary and is like an acute form of rheumatoid arthritis. Its caused him to be hospitalized and he is losing lung function because the capillaries in his lungs are not growing properly. His disease causes the your capillaries in his lungs to constrict and die from…See More

It's crazy! the experience has been a roller coaster. but honestly kinda interesting but yeah really hard. My dad is also really ill with mixed connective tissue disease. I'm cool with this avm though but its crazy how things change. my family is so stressed and my friends all act different. idk.
Would you like to recommend a surgeon, therapist, or a hospital?
Dr. spetzler is pretty good he's my surgeon when it gots to be chopped out. he's super busy so it's good to have another surgeon for consultation and education. i got alot of help from Dr. Cauldwell @ univ of utah. He is alot more personable and is a teacher of nuerosugeons there. he's smart. everyone should see a psychiatrist too. a nice one.

Hi, Welcome to a great support group. It seems you are a very positive person. I believe it is good to see things from an open perspective. Even though of the difficult experiences we can learn from them ... I hope this attitude continues to help you stay strong. I understand, when I had my avm some family friends look at me with sorrow.

How are you filing?
God Bless
Ninibeth
