The 18 February is exactly 3 months since our son in 11 years had a large hemorrhage in the cerebellum. And soon he will make an angiography study of the cerebellum. We have heard that this survey is not completely safe and can cause neurological problems afterwards. Does anyone have experience with this ..?
The time is approaching and we are nervous.

While no medical procedure is completely safe, I don't think you need to fear the angiogram. It is a very necessary step in determining the best treatment for your son. We didn't find it to be difficult at all. The worst of it is having to keep your leg straight for several hours after the procedure. The angiogram will give the doctor the information he/she needs about your son's specific AVM, and they will use that information to decide how to treat. I have not heard of anyone who has had problems with this procedure. This is all very difficult to deal with as a parent! Hang on and take it one step at a time. Once you finish this step, you will have a lot more information, and the angiogram is the only way to get it.Sending prayers your way!

Thank you very much Susan!
This was comforting to hear. We heard after his bleeding and the surgery, that he had a vein that was slightly enlarged. This vein had no connection, and they figured it would close itself within 6 weeks after surgery. It is this vein they are checking. We pray that everything is OK!!

Good Luck. I'm sure everything will be fine. My son is going to have his 3rd angiogram in March. We met another family on this site from Pittsburgh who has a daughter that is also going for an angiogram. We had the Doctor schedule them on the same day so that they can be there for each other. It's not a pleasant procedure, but the information that is gathered for the docs is tremendous.

I totally agree with Sharon on this. It's a necessary procedure. My only problems were having to be still for 48 hours after each one and no housework for at least a week. And that's only because I have a bleeding disorder. My son had no problem with his and he was just a baby then.

Our son had 4 Angio's of his cerebellum and we were blessed to have no related problems. He has no had a hemorrhage and still has the avm

Thank you so much everyone!
I am glad to hear that you have god experience with the angio.
Thomas jr. will have his 1 angio next friday, and we pray that it will show no more AVM left.
Bless you all!

My son 10 years old had multiple angiograms. I agree with Susan this will give the doctors a very clear picture and map on how to effectively treat the AVM. The biggest problem my son had with the Angio was keeping his leg straight for such a long peroid of time. Sending good thoughts your way.
