Welcome to the group! My son is 11 and will have AVM surgery next Tuesday at Barrows in Phoenix with Dr. Spetzler. It is scary but with good docs, caring friends, and, for us, God, you get through it. : ) It is so wonderful your son is stable!

Hello all,
My son was just diagnosed with an AVM a few weeks ago. He had a left temporal hemorrhage in December. He is stable and besides the bleed in good health. We are just looking for some support and advice. We are terrified of what is to come and hope to make the best decisions for him.

My son's periperhal AVM confirmed with Dr. Bristol yesterday. The occipital artery is the main feeder. She offerred surgical removal. We will meet with Dr. Albuquerue at Barrow's to disucss emobilization next. Don't know what to do. From everything I've read these peripherals don't always respond well to intervention.
Dr. Bristol's assistant has been great and is helping us so much. I know a lot of people have gone to Barrow's on this site. Has anyone else spoke with Dr. Albuquerque before?

So glad to hear that you have recieved good news and are moving in the right direction, we will keep you in our prayers, My Daughter Lacey is have at a stand still now for 8 days, We are still waiting for the Doctor who volunteered to do her surgery pro-bono to call us, Lacey was declined by the hosptials charity group 8 days ago, we need to speak with the doctor but we are still waiting, We really don't know what to do, we don't want to get mad at the doctor who offers pro-bono but we sure would like to hear from him, we are really frustrated, as my daughter says she can't beleive her life is worth so little, if you have the money (insurance) your good, if you don't have the money (insurance) it's very frustrating, We are starting fundsraisers we need to raise at least $37,000.00 and pay up front to get her surgery at St John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Ca, That's were the doctor willing to pro-bono the surgery is located.

My son's AVM surgery is March 16 with Dr. Spetzler. A girl in my son's class had the surgery a couple years ago and she has been a comfort. : ) I live in the PX Valley and everyone here says he is the best in the world. You are in good hands (literally)!
