Hello DC45, and welcome to the group. What type of surgery will your friend have done? The best advice that I can give for your friend, is to listen to his body, and rest when he needs to while in recovery, and to be patient with himself. I wish I could give better advice. A member of this group is putting together a support group for the Mid-Atlantic and will hold meetings in College Park. Here is a link to the group if you would like to bring your friend to a meeting in the future: https://www.facebook.com/groups/midatlanticavm/

Good luck to you and your friend.

Hello all. My SO is having surgery this week and I'm looking for tips to help him in his recovery. The location of the AVM is not near any part of the brain that controls motor functions.

Welcome to the group, Goud! It's great to have you here.
I'm working on holding a get-together for the AVM Survivors in the Mid-Atlantic Area in March. I'll hope to see you and your wife there if this plan is carried out.

Welcome to the group, Tara! I will keep you posted on the second Mid-Atlantic AVM Survivors meet-up. I'll see about setting a time during the meet-up where we can all share out AVM experiences.
