Comment by Rob Forsythe on April 7, 2012 at 8:14am Hi everyone,
I just made a discovery this morning regarding my thyroid medication, Levoxothyrine. Users are required to take this medication at least 30 to 60 minutes daily on an empty stomach. To chase the morning taste from my mouth, I ate a Wintergreen Lifesaver (my favorite flavor. I ate my breakfast at the proper time, washing it down with ice water. I suddenly started itching like crazy, so I did some research into the Lifesaver's ingredients and discovered that flavor contaiins stearic acid, which probably reacted with the thyroid medication. It states to avoid calcium for four hours afterwards as well, so that rules out cereal for breakfast, too. I'm calling my PCP Monday to report this experience so others can avoid my violent reaction. P.S.Ingredients in the normal five flavor Lifesavers do not contain stearic acid.
Sincerely,
Rob Forsythe

Hey all!
I'm currently taking 25 mg of Meclizine for my vertigo (yes, a doctor prescribed it) I'm sure it's safe but are there any known side effects that I should know about? Does anyone have any experience with this medication? Hope everyone is feeling well.

Some of the basic OTC meds & supplements I avoid due to potential bleed risks are:
Aspirin
Ibuprofren
Advil
Sudafed (OTC & Rx)
Omega 3
Magnesium
Comment by Rob Forsythe on June 1, 2011 at 3:34pm One to avoid if you have a central Nervous System disorder-The quinilone, Ciprofloxacin. I was given it by my dentist for a root canal. I had multiple grand mals while on the job at 9-1-1, and continued with more in the ER. The only thing that stopped them was Ativan. If that wasn't bad enough,
I suffered acute kidney failure. A DVT was discovered in my leg, and a few days later my urinary retention journey began. Two Impulse generator implants later, I'm finally going to go on my own. Pray that it goes well for me.
Your friend,
Rob Forsythe

Comment by Rob Forsythe on April 6, 2011 at 2:31pm Hi everyone! My AVM was man y moons ago- since then I've had many different meds since then- even now their side effects are enough to scare the patient away. Let us know what has worked for you-and if you've had adverse effects we'd like to know what they did/didn't do.
