Best Book Yet about Hope after having a Brain Injury:
Left Neglected by Lisa Genova (who is a PHD in neuroscience) who wrote this amazing novel about a young woman having a brain injury after a car crash and about HOPE afterwards!
Hi....I just read a three good books:
Extremely Loud and Incrediby Close by Joanathan Safran Foer - Child who lost father on 911
Still Alice by Lisa Genova - about a Harvard Professer who developed Alzheimer at age 50.
Night Road by Kristin Hannah - about a Mother's life coming down to a series of choises. To hold on..to let go...to forget...to forgive..Which road will you turn?
Hope you like them...I did.

An interesting & healthy perspective on the subject...
Making Friends with Pain: Learning to Live Well with Chronic Illness, by Elizabeth Flora

A nice little book of inspiration!
ABOVE & BEYOND: 365 Meditations for Transcending Chronic Pain and Illness," J.S. Dorian

Hi flower,
I too appreciated "I've Had Brain Surgery," much for Suzy Becker's sense of humor on many aspects of the topic! :) I loved her pic/illustration of morphing from herself to frankenstein (as others see her!)
Another one I loved is Julia's, "Don't leave me this way, or you'll be sorry." http://www.juliafoxgarrison.com/home.htm
Comment by flower on January 24, 2012 at 12:14pm Hello all book worms. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
Time Out of Mind by Jane Lapotaire. She was a successful actress b4 her encounter. I'm reading I've Had Brain Surgery which Pati's read. What did you like about it? I like the format - how she mixes humour in. It isn't a 'misery memoire.' She's got a sense of humour. Worth reading.

Oh Patti...that sounds like a good read. Has anyone read the book that The Giffords just wrote?

Just finished reading, "Cherokee Neurosurgeon: A Biography of Charles Byron Wilson, M.D. by M.D., Brian T. Andrews
Dr. Wilson (ret.) of UCSF did my first crani in 1988. :)
A GREAT, legendary NS who contributed so much to neurosurgery & mentored some of the renown NS of today!
