There are lots of meetups around the country and around the world. We love hearing about them.

Since others have subsequently asked about meetups in their area, the moderators and I have decided to create this forum discussion so the community can throw out ideas and dates for meetups in other cities around the world.

How to organize a meetup
1. Pick a date (Saturdays are best)
2. Pick a place (picnics at a park are great, so are kid-friendly restaurants)
3. Post an event here
4. Contact a moderator (on home page) to help spread the word.
Some other tips:
1. Bring name tags and a marker
2. See if the restaurant can offer a fixed menu to make things easier
3. Double check wheelchair accessibility
4. During the week before send daily reminder to attendees
5. Bring a camera and take a few group photos :)

Hi everyone,

Anyone (besides me) in Albuquerque or the surrounding area who might be interested in meeting up?

I am in Tucson AZ would require a little travel on my part but would be worth it! Or maybe meet somewhere in the middle? Not sure how many of us are interested but i guess we have two!!! ;)

New York City!!!! I would love to attend and meet others that are AVM survivors as well. I am happy this forum was created so it is easy to follow if there will be meetings in the Northeast area. I am not that good at organizing but definately would attend.
Heidi,

There is an NYC meetup in the works (for November) as part of a fundraiser. I'll be sure to send out details as soon as I know.

Ben

New Yorkers, a little bird told me that Grace O Brien is organizing something for May.
Nothing in Indianapolis, but feel free to organize one at your local coffee shop. To find others in your area and send them a personal invite, search here: http://www.avmsurvivors.org/profiles/members/advancedSearch

Indianapolis area meeting? Informal coffee or formal... Existing or new... :)
Hey Peeps! Anyone in the Denver Metro Area that want to meet up??
I would like to give tips on setting up a meeting.

First off have a place that you are going to meet and then a date set in stone.
Ask our family and friends if they are willing to help host.
Post on the AVM of the time and place.
Do a search for your state in the members area and add every one in your area or state.
Ask other what they would like to pitch in so that it is a place where every one welcome to and can take part and share of them selfs to others.

We had a great time here in Houston Texas and once more thanks to every one that helped make it happen!
Is there anyone near or in the Baltimore, Washington DC area that would like to get together?
I go to school in terre haute, indiana, but am willing to travel to indy or champaign to meet up with people!!
jenny, where in indy are you? (what side of the city, i dont know the area very well). i go to school in terre haute and i know of one other avmer in terre haute
