God did not say life is going to be easy. but finding laughter and joy is a gift. You are a funny lady too. I hope to see you in March.

Permalink Reply by prissy b. on December 14, 2011 at 8:31pm hi, rich! thanks for the tips. i wished i came across your tips 10 years early. i am in the medical field but it is different when it is you who is affected. my md's never told me i had aphasia but i always have known i have it. sometimes, when i am very tired or stressed, i can't seem to communicate well. i am terrified of speaking in front of groups sometimes. if i had to, it seemed like my mind blanks out for a bit and loose my trend of thought when i am speaking. and when i speak, sometimes the words don't come out right. it is getting better, though. i can write better than speaking. and you know what, i can not do Sudoku at all! but i can say-stickies do help a lot. thank you! you are heaven sent! God Bless!
Oh yeah I Know Aphasia is not so Fun but on other times,Your friends laugh with u not at u! :)U gotta live with it I have for 14 years,it hit me when i was 35 years! Sprmnt (sheila)

I'm really like the numbers 6: The one that you talk about the recording device. That is one that I relly use.
I'm sure the other people can use some of them, so I'm really greatful for that.

Permalink Reply by Rich on April 3, 2012 at 4:35am hi enrique, yes i would say that for me, storing data, especially on the phone, people you dont know, can be such a frustrating experience. But with the recording device, you dont have to worry, can be so very useful.

Permalink Reply by Rich on April 3, 2012 at 4:42am Hi Cerebral ticking time bomb! I cant say that my GK improved my aphasia, no. But it did remove 90% of my AVM, and did not damage my speech or memory.
As for my aphasia, over time, it did improve - the confidence steadly got better. Generally 5 years later, i would say i had 90% back. But its never come back totally, thats certainly for sure.
Great post Rich, fantastic info. I use some of the techniques mentioned but will also try your others. This is a really helpful post. I can relate to much of this.
Thanks for taking the time to write this!
