Hi Olga. I have lots of friends who live in the New York area. New York Presbyterian Hospital has a good reputation...

Lots of members like Dr. Berenstein...
http://www.avmsurvivors.org/main/search/search?q=Dr.+Berenstein
Here is some of his info...http://neuro.wehealny.org/endo/staff_alejandro-berenstein.asp
If you are willing to go to Philadelphia...Dr. Rosenwasswer...http://www.avmsurvivors.org/main/search/search?q=Dr.+Rosenwasser
He is at Jefferson Hospital.
There is MGH in Boston. I can get you several names of doctors there.
Of course, Yale University Hospital is located in New Haven CT.

I know i'm not near the TRI State area, I live in Buffalo, but my Nurosurgon, who i really like is Dr. Siddiqui through University at Buffalo Nero surgery.

I see Dr Robert Solomon over at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital

Hi Two excellent Doctors Are Jesse Blumenthal wound care center at Beth Israel MC and Tom Maldonado NYU Langone MC in Manhattan Randy {Avmal}

Hi Olga, I see Surgeons at New York Presbyterian-Cornell Weill. My Neuroradiologist: Athos Patsalidies. My Neurosurgeon: Howard Riina (who is at New York University now). They saved my life.

Hi Jaime, I saw your comment about New York Presbyterian. I had my AVM removed by Dr. Bennett Stein back in March of 1985. Dr Stein was the only Dr. at the time doing this surgery. I was living in Phila., and no one there would touch me! The sent me there, at the time it was Columbia Presbyterian. I suffered a stroke at age 20, lost my perephial vision to the left, but I'm alive! I worked up until Feb of this year and finally gave up because of siezures. There were some young doctors there in training but I don't remember their names. I would refer my family to this hospital no matter how far away it is!
I hope all who are reading this are doing well and remember there is hope.
Pain gave me faith, faith gave me courage, Courage gave me strength & strength gave me Hope!

I am very passionate about my referral to Presbyterian. They saved my life. Best wishes to you!

The number of AVMs a doctor treats and his/her number of publications on AVMs are important to me...when we were looking for a tri-state-area doctor, the top finds in our plan were Berenstein in NYC and Rosenwasser in Phila. Rosenwasser's at Jefferson, which treats more AVMs than anywhere else in the country (I think...check their website!)

Dr. Rossenwasser in Philadelphia saved my life and has an amazing staff who support and help throughout the journey.....well worth trip, I live in Jersey. Blessings to you on whoever you choose. If you need any information contact me..... xoxox Mare
